Is your vehicle experiencing hyper-flashing signal lights after upgrading 7443 DUAL FILAMENT halogen bulbs to LED? To remedy the hyper-flashing problem, plug one side of this resistor into the 7443 OEM signal light socket and the LED bulb into the other side. The resistors do get hot when in use, so mount them a metal surface or have plenty of free space around them. What these resistors do is create larger power draw on the electrical system (signal light), similar to the one created by a halogen bulb, preventing the signal light flasher from hyper-flashing. Why does the flasher hyper-flash? The flasher is designed to hyper-flash as a way of alarming you when a halogen signal light bulb is burned out. LED bulbs have such little power draw that the flasher thinks the bulb is burned out, even though it is not, that is why it hyper-flashes. The other way to solve hyper-flashing is to make sure the LED bulb is a 27W bulb which draws 2.25A@12V.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bulb socket: 7443
  • Resistors: 2x 50W 8 Ohm
  • One resistor adds 1.7Amps of power draw to the circuit

    Superior Support from Martin!

Posted by Kevan Garecki on 13th Jul 2023

Long, but necessary if you're trying to use these on the newer T1 style GM trucks. GM changed the architecture in the BCM's for these trucks, and standard work-arounds like this won't work, at least not on their own. Thanks to Martin's help however, we determined that sourcing an LED bulb with 28W on the high (signal/brake) circuit & 5W on the low (park/tail) circuit, together with these resistors, will fool the BCM's in the newer GM trucks into thinking life is good. Martin was absolutely stellar with his help & instructions, it's a treat to find such a dedicated & knowledgeable source! As for the resistor set itself, superior workmanship, quality product & "dummy easy" to install. Pay attention to the directions! It's not tough, but the caveats Martin offers are there for a good reason!
