LED bulbs shutting off after 3-5 seconds.

Installing LED bulbs in canbus controlled vehicles isn’t always as simple as it seems. If an LED bulb draws significantly less power than a halogen bulb, the system may interpret it as a burned-out bulb and automatically cut power to it.
So, how can this be fixed? There are a few options:
- Choose an LED kit with a power draw that closely matches the original halogen bulb (see data table below).
- Install a canbus anti-flicker decoder which increases wattage by about 8W. However, this may not solve the issue if the system expects 60W and the LED setup only reaches 48W (e.g., 40W + 8W).
- Add a 50W 8 Ohm inline resistor. Similar to the decoder, this may or may not resolve the issue depending on the LED bulb’s total power draw.
Sample Data Table:
- H11 halogen bulb: 4.7 Amps / 69W
- H11 LED R8 Pro bulb: 4.7 Amps / 69W - perfect match
- H11 LED 9X Pro bulb: 4.7 Amps / 69W - perfect match
