Technical Info:

People often ask if H8, H9 and H11 are the same or different. They fit the same but they vary by the wattage and light output in their HALOGEN form. An H11 halogen bulb has a 55W filament optimized for long life at the expense of lower light output. H11 55W is most often used in a low beam position. An H9 halogen bulb has a 65W filament optimized for maximum light output at the expense of shorter lifespan. H9 is most often used in a high beam position. H8 halogen bulb has a 35W filament with a much lower light output that the H9 and H11 bulbs. H8 fits the same as H9 and H11 but the bulb tabs are thinner than those of an H11 bulb and may need to be adjusted for an LED bulb to fit the headlight. H8 is normally used in fog lamps.

When upgrading to LEDs, if you match the power draw between the halogen and the LED, then you will have less issues with lights shutting off or needing canbus decoders.

  • Low beam H11 55W halogen bulbs draw 4.10A@12V - the GTS Pro draws 0.9A more than the halogen bulb. The perfect LED match for this draw would the H11 H55 LED kit.
  • High beam H9 65W halogen bulbs draw 4.98A@12V - the GTS Pro matches this power draw perfectly.

Dimensions:

Total bulb length: 8.0cm
Bulb Fan diameter: 3.9cm
Space needed for the bulb's fan at the back of the headlight: 2.9cm
LED driver size: 6.3cm (L) x 3.2cm (W) x 1.9cm (H)

Installation:

When installing this bulb, ensure that LED chips are facing to the sides of the headlight, one side towards the fender and the other towards the grille. Also make sure that the power cable on the back of the fan is at 6 o'clock pointing straight down. This ensures proper LED alignment in the headlight.

Successfully installed in:

  • 2012 Dodge RAM 3500
  • 2013 Hyundai SantaFe originally with H11B. No issues with flickering or lights shutting off. Decoders were not needed. H11B connector had to be moved so the H11 GTS Pro LED driver could be connected to it.
  • 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Not compatible with:

  • 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 - lights turn ON and then OFF even with the use of H11 decoders
  • 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd - lights turn ON and then OFF even with the use of H11 decoders
  • 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 - the tip of the bulb is too wide and the fan is too large to fit under the dust cap

GT Pro and high beam bulb

Not as bright as I had hoped on low beam. I suspect the projector headlamp is at fault , as there is only one per side. The fog lights however , are outstanding with the GT Pro,s.The best suprise is the High Beam bulb, absoutly stunning.
